The winter weather has wreaked havoc in the country and people of Britain are advised to be alert because more snow and ice are expected over the weekend.
Unprecedented Snowfall and Cold Conditions

It got rather chilly across certain parts of the country, especially in Cheshire and Somerset where the thermometer fell to sub-zero while Eskdale Muir in Scotland also had a similarly freezing night. The frost was to go on for a few more days, with some locations recording a low of -8 0C in Benson, Oxfordshire, -7.4 0C in Shap, Cumbria. These low temperatures have created the right environment for a possible severe weather- snow is expected.
The Met Office has now issued two amber warnings for snow and ice. The first warning, affecting most parts of Wales and North of England, is for 6 today to 12 next Sunday. The second amber warning is for the north of England from 9 pm today till midnight Sunday. As with all the other types of winter weather, both warnings state that snow will be heavy and will continue to accumulate in the impacted regions making the roads dangerous and can prove lethal in the extreme when it comes to disruption.
Heavy Snowfall Expected Across the UK
Prognosticators are speaking of strong winds with snow, between 3-7mm of snow is expected on most of the areas of the affected regions, 15-30mm on the central Welsh and Pennine hills. Snowfall could even be up to 40 cm especially in regions with altitudes of up to 300m like Pennines and Wales. This may lead to major disruption to roads, railways, and airports that means that there will probably be some delays and cancellations.
The amber warning is also for snow, but for a larger area from Newcastle down to London; there is also a yellow warning for snow. This covers much of England and Wales and is in force from noon today until midnight on Sunday. This means that whereas the snow is not as severe as in the amber warning areas, there will be disruptions on the roads.

The UK is currently witnessing fury of snowfall, and in addition to this is the extra dangerous ice conditions. National Rail has said it knows that several lines across Britain are already affected and more routes are expected to be as the snow comes on.
Drivers are being asked to consider leaving their vehicles parked up as much as possible and not to travel in areas where the snow is expected to accumulate most. Police are calling on everyone to drive safely on the road especially with a recent incident that happened on the A1, Lincolnshire early this week where two people died as a result of the icy condition on the road. Among the dead were a seven-year-month-old baby who died on the spot in the crash which police suspect was as a result of black ice on the road.
